The Shaw Project

There are 1) a huge OPEN ACCESS WEBSITE, and 2) a RESTRICTED WEBSITE on the Ontario Research and Innovation Optical Network (ORION) to host copyrighted materials such as play texts, and to protect the identities of students using the interactive ORION O3 Collaborative Platform.

The Shaw project consists of the website http://libra.apps01.yorku.ca and the “Fantasia for Shaw Scholars” on the interactive ORION O3 Shaw platform at http://shaw.othree.ca designed specifically for Shaw scholars, students and anybody interested in knowing more about Shaw. Please go to the left menu to navigate the open access part of SAGITTARIUS. This includes access to reviews and YouTube videos of Shaw productions, and the Shaw bookshelf featuring both print and electronic books. The ORION O3 Shaw platform includes the Shaw Wiki, individual blogs for Shaw scholars, and a Calendar of productions of Shaw plays worldwide.

The ORION-Shaw pilot project in the restricted website is available exclusively to schools that are connected to Ontario’s ORION research and education network. Thirty school boards are connected to ORION, which was created to provide an advanced private network to enable innovation for Ontario’s research and education institutions. This project is among the new programs and services ORION is introducing to help students and teachers derive maximum benefits from ORION’s state-of-the art capabilities in supporting teaching and learning outcomes. Teachers may find out if their board is connected to ORION, or obtain information on how to connect their school to the network, by writing Ali Abbas Mehboob Hirji at ali.hirji@orion.on.ca or visiting www.orion.on.ca.
